Kiso Fukushima – February 2013 / 木曽福島　2013年２月

I’ve been printing quite a lot recently using Awagami Factory traditional Japanese washi paper which has been modified for printing with inkjet printers. Awagami is a family run business and during the summer I was lucky enough to take a tour of the paper mill. I used to teach English to the daughter of the owner when I lived in Shikoku way back in 2001 – 2002 and was kindly given some A3 Bizan paper to try out. The Himalaya photo will soon be hanging on my living room wall.

最近、四国にあるアワガミファクトリーの和紙でインクジェットプリントを作っています。アワガミファクトリーは何百年もの歴史のある家族ビジネスです。今年の夏に製紙工場を見せてもらいました。2001年、徳島市に住んでいた時に社長さんの娘さんに英語を教えていました。今年11年ぶりに再会し、A3サイズのビザン和紙を頂いたので、上記に載せてあるネパールの写真を我家のリビングに貼ります。
