  As with elsewhere in Japan at the moment places that would normally be heaving with tourists and a zillion selfie sticks are eerily quiet and much more pleasant to visit as a result. Mount Kōya was no exception.

  Jokoji Temple (定光寺) in Seto (瀬戸市), just to the east of Nagoya – but closer to Kasugai in reality – is a wonderful place to ride to at this time of year. I ride there a few times a week and usually have the place to myself but not for the next week or so…
