Tokyo 2020 and Multiple Exposures

It’s too hot to do anything vigorous outdoors at the moment. Seeing the Norwegian triathlete vomiting after crossing the finishing line this morning (a 6:30 am start?) was proof of that.

I was/am against the Olympics being held this year – I don’t see why they couldn’t postpone for another year just to be safe. I even made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t watch any coverage on TV or click on any Olympic-related news while they are being held as a form of protest, but that didn’t last very long. I skipped the opening ceremony (as I always do) but have been watching events from day one. The athletes deserve recognition and shouldn’t be blamed for the IOC and Japanese government’s big gamble.

Besides, what if the daily spectacle of elite healthy athletes at their physical best actually inspires people to get off their backsides, go outdoors, and get healthy? Maybe, just maybe, that could help in the fight against the pandemic.

Wishful thinking I guess.

  • My feet and some industrial cranes. A black and white multiple exposure along the Shonai River.

Despite the heat, I’ve been trying to stay active outdoors. As mentioned above, nothing vigorous, just an early morning bike ride or run, sometimes followed up with a very leisurely afternoon walk with my camera. The Lumix S5 has a multiple exposure function that I always forget to use. For good reason, because for 99% of the time it’s just a gimmick.

But it makes the afternoon walks a bit more creative.
