Eboshigataake (烏帽子ヶ岳) near Matsukawa in southern Nagano was my first real hike and it’s one I plan on returning to again in the near future.

We hiked for what felt like an eternity but looking at the profile now realise isn’t that much of a hike at all*. That didn’t stop my legs from aching like crazy for about a week afterwards though.

Located in the southern part of the Chuo Alps the summit reaches 2194m. Not that high but you’ll still need to avoid winter and early spring if you don’t have the correct gear.

With the exception of the colour photo shot on a Canon G12, these are scans of negatives (Ilford Delta 100 film) printed on the superb Awagami Inbe Thin White Japanese paper. Get some, you won’t regret it. And if you’re stuck in lockdown, why not go through your archive and do a bit of printing? Photographs are NEVER finished until you can hold them in your hands.
