You may or may not have noticed that there haven’t been many posts in 2018. While I’ve been spending more time than ever outdoors in the Japanese countryside cycling, bike packing, mountain biking, and hiking, cycling in the Australian countryside, or back ‘home’ in the U.K., the name Bike Packing Japan has often felt restrictive and has been something I’ve been unhappy with for a while.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it and nobody really cares but by calling the website Bike Packing Japan I’ve felt pressured into only posting bike-packing related posts from Japan.

That’s a self-imposed restriction that I’m no longer happy with.

So there’s going to be a name change for 2019 – Outdoor Adventure.jp as well as a larger variety of posts. Japan-based posts mostly, but with trips to Australia and the U.K. as usual, but also posts on hiking in Japan, camping, mountain biking… anything outdoor related.

There’s also a Japan cycling tour planned for early summer for a group of Australian cyclists that I’m looking forward to.
