These wouldn’t have happened a few years ago. I would have known instantly that I’d messed up the exposure, deleted them, and started again. But you can’t do that with film.
All technical failures. But failures that, for me, do a pretty good job of expressing what it felt like to spend a few isolated nights away from the rat race on Japan’s North Pacific coast with no phone reception, Internet connection or amenities of any kind. Just me, a few friends, some wild deer keeping us awake at night, and a small stream to wash in and get drinking water from.
I want to fail more often.
