I enjoy detours.
I was heading to Sekigahara in Gifu, the location of a major battle between two different clans back in 1600, but saw a tiny “one man densha” at Ogaki station (densha is Japanese for train) that was heading north into the mountains. I decided to jump on and let it take me to the end of the line.
It wasn’t until going through the penultimate tunnel that the snow started to appear and by the time the train arrived in Tarumi, the last stop, there was plenty of it about but absolutely nobody outside.
Except for me and one more photographer that I bumped into.
