Stunning pics! What is the structure on the edge of the mountain in the middle one and is there a particular reason for the vignette effect?

Thanks.
I can’t remember what that structure is but I think it’s something to do with snow in the winter and there’s no special reason for the vignette apart from liking the way it looks.
