Cambodia & Photography: Phnom Penh Monks

Everyone that has been to Phnom Penh or elsewhere in Cambodia has photographed the monks, and most have done a far better job than me. There were times when I felt embarrassed at the sight of (mostly middle-aged Western men with huge telephoto lenses and bags full of gear) tourists stalking and chasing the monks just to get a photo. For that reason I tried to avoid being drawn to them as a subject, but occasionally I saw something that made me react. This was one of them.

カンボジアに行った事のある人たちは、恐らくお坊さんの写真を撮ったと思います。たまに、大きなカメラやレンズを持って、ストーカーみたいに、お坊さんを追いかけていたカメラマンもいました。それをみると恥ずかしく感じるし、もちろん自分より上手く撮る人も沢山いるから、出来るだけお坊さんの写真を遠慮していました。しかし、時々ある風景に出会うとシャッターを押すしかない。この風景はそのひとつ。
